Mantis Shrimp live in tropical and subtropical waters along the equator in places such as southern America and Africa.(1)

 

About 250 species of Mantis Shrimp can be found in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean, mostly around the coast.(1)

Mantis Shrimp create burrows in the soft seabed, in the process turning over and oxygenating surrounding sediment.

About 400 species of mantis shrimp are known worldwide. New species are regularly being discovered, even off the coast of New South Wales.

Mantis Shrimp can live in burrows and crevices on coral reefs, or on the seabed down to a depth of 1500 metres. (1)

 

This Mantis Shrimp was found on the beach of Christmas Island. Christmas Island is an Australlian Teritory located in the Indian Ocean.(2)
